De Jelly Roll Morton à Willie “The Lion” Smith, en passant par Fats Waller, Eubie Blake ou Louis Armstrong, le jazz de la Nouvelle-Orléans des années 20-30 est célébré avec maestria par quatre prodiges de la scène jazz hexagonale !
À l’instar du cinéma de genre post-apocalyptique, le quartet Post K propose une lecture du jazz de La Nouvelle-Orléans après le passage de l’ouragan Katrina.
Appartenant à la nouvelle génération de musiciens de jazz, aussi brillants qu’éclectiques, Jean Dousteyssier – clarinettiste de l’Orchestre National de Jazz Olivier Benoit -, son frère Benjamin, Matthieu Naulleau et Elie Duris interprètent le répertoire des années 20-30, notamment celui des pianistes de « stride » dont ils tirent des particularités de jeu, qu’ils appliquent avec un regard contemporain dans l’écriture comme dans l’improvisation.
Post K invite à une musique populaire, à la fois riche et savamment déstructurée, dans des formats courts, à l’image des premiers enregistrements de jazz.

Like post-apocalyptic genre cinema, the Post K quartet offers a reading of New Orleans jazz in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Belonging to the new generation of jazz musicians, as brilliant as they are eclectic, Jean Dousteyssier – clarinettist with the Orchestre National de Jazz Olivier Benoit -, his brother Benjamin, Matthieu Naulleau and Elie Duris interpret the repertoire of the 20s and 30s, in particular that of stride pianists, from which they draw particularities of playing, which they apply with a contemporary eye in both writing and improvisation.
Post K is an invitation to popular music, both rich and skilfully unstructured, in short formats, just like the first jazz recordings.
